This research revealed a potential electroanalytical method for determining cholesterol concentrations in aqueous solutions. Analyte concentrations were determined using commercially available, inexpensive, disposable, carbon screen-printed electrodes in conjunction with cyclic voltammetry. Anodic and cathodic peak currents of aqueous cholesterol solutions were determined using cyclic voltammetry. Cholesterol solutions were prepared from deionized water, saline, and phosphate buffer solutions at varying pH values. Using the anodic or cathodic peak height data, a calibration curve of peak current versus cholesterol concentration was prepared. The validity of the process was then tested using blind samples.
