Calixarene’s modifications in the lower and upper rim have been extensively studied and experimented with, for the complexation of specific transition metal ion centers, guest molecules or ions. Usually these modifications, called pendant arms, enhance the affinity towards metal ions by using different coordinating groups such as, amine, phosphine, carboxylate, etc. <br/>One field of interest in our research group is to selectively produce a bimetallic calixarene complexes without the aid of any pendant ligand.  <br/>A proposed synthetic pathway is the use of a silylated calixarene derivative. This silyl-calixarene derivative could be used as precursor for the hetero or homo-bimetallic desired models. This methodology then can be applied to synthesize various transition metal ions and ultimately their catalytic properties can be studied. In this presentation we will discuss the synthesis, characterization and reactivity of the silyl-calixarene derivative to produce a metallocalixarene. <br/>
