We developed a simple method to synthesize the reduced graphene oxide/carbon nanotube/iron/silver composites (rGO/CNT@Fe/Ag) under ambient conditions via microwave irradiation within just 10–30 s under ambient conditions via microwave irradiation. The structural characteristics of the hybrid materials were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), transmission spectroscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results lead to insights into the formation of the rGO/CNT@Fe/Ag composites upon microwave irradiation. The composites obtained in the present study catalyze the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) in the presence of sodium borohydride (NaBH<sub>4</sub>), achieving more than 99 % conversion of 4-NP within 6 min. Moreover, rGO/CNT@Fe/Ag hybrid materials could be easily recovered by an external magnet, which maintained high catalytic activity and stability after 5 cycles.
