X-ray absorption spectroscopy is a technique that has been useful for providing insight into the physical and electronic structures of numerous non-heme iron complexes and their products after they react with oxygen.  In many cases, these highly reactive compounds are not stable enough to be crystallized, so XAS is needed to glean what structural information is available.  However, extracting this information is not always straightforward.  Short half-lives and complex equilibria between species in solution can often complicate XAS analysis.  This poster will highlight methods that can be used to extract useful XAS data from complicated systems and how this data can lead to a greater understand of high-valent iron compounds.  <br/>
