In this seminar, stabilization of rare early transition metal-ligand multiple bonds will be presented. All complexes discussed are supported by the PN<sup>−</sup> ligand (PN<sup>−</sup> = (N-(2-(diisopropylphosphino)-4-methylphenyl)-2,4,6-trimethylanilide). Synthetic studies include the range of reactivity of a titanium nitrido anion complex, including nucleophilic and electrophilic reactivity. The formation and reactivity of a titanium nitridyl radical from this scaffold will also be presented. A crystallographically chartacterized terminal titanium methylidene and zirconium nitrido complex will also be discussed. The electronic structure of all complexes has been elucidated computationally in addition to spectroscopic characterization.
