The ACS Uniandes international student chapter is an initiative of the undergraduate students of the chemistry program at Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia. The objectives of the chapter are to show the local society that chemistry can be amazing, interesting and fun. With that in mind, last year the international chapter has organized multiple activities, such as going to primary schools to show kids how interesting chemistry can be through different colorful experiments and going to graduate students' meetings. We also organized different activities to increase the chapter’s visibility at the university, such as a bake sale as well as a Valentine’s day event. Finally, the chapter organized, with the help of the student council of Chemistry Department of Universidad Nacional, a local meeting of young chemists called EBQUI, where both academic and recreational events led to a stronger interaction within the local chemical community. ACS Uniandes plans to keep increasing both its visibility and outreach within the community through multiple activities and colorful experiments in schools as well as at the university by working with other chapters. It also plans to focus on the celebration of the international year of the periodic table.
