In this presentation, I will describe my efforts over the last several years to incorporate the results of chemistry education research (CER) into my teaching of general chemistry courses and labs. I will give three specific examples of my implementation of CER originally published by Sevian & Talanquer, Cole, and Cooper. Based on my experience, I will outline three steps that any instructor can take to incorporate CER findings into their teaching. First, be aware of research in chemistry education that might be relevant to one's practice. Second, consider contextual factors that may require adaptation from the original. Third, experiment and revise the implementation to achieve desired results.
