A variety of nanostructures have been investigated as anode materials in metal-ion batteries in recent years. It has been shown that barium titanate nanoparticles enhanced the Li-capacity of silicon nanoparticles; herein, we present the use of BaTiO3 and porous silicon (p-Si) nanoparticles to offset the volumetric expansion of Si after extended cycling. The addition of Mg-reduced graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) will also be discussed, to improve the overall conductivity and provide a porous framework for additional Li+ or Na+ ions during charging of half-cells.
