In this work new Cu(I) Schiff base complex were synthesized and studied for the catalytic oxidation of primary alcohols. The most active complex ((Bis-(N-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-(furan-2-yl)methanimino)-copper(I)-triflate) gave combined with TEMPO, NMI in open air and room temperature high catalytic activity for the oxidation of different primary alcohols (1-octanol (96 %), benzyl alcohol (&gt;99%)) in acetonitrile. These results are comparable to the already known highly active systems based on bipyridine as a ligand. The catalytic reaction was monitored with UV-vis-, <i>in situ</i> ATR-IR-spectroscopy and GC during the reaction and further details of the catalytic system is discussed.
