This presentation will discuss our recent and on-going efforts in the design of several methodologies or mechanisms that utilize organic & organometallic catalysts and main-group Lewis pairs for: (a) the developments of precision (stereoselective, chemoselective & living) polymerization, proton-transfer polymerization, stereo-sequence-controlled polymerization, and Lewis pair polymerization methods; (b) the chemical syntheses of natural and unnatural bio-based polymers; (c) the constructions of stereoregular crystalline or optically active chiral polymers, supramolecular stereocomplexes, and infinitely recyclable polymers; and (d) the applications of organocatalysis in biomass conversion into jet fuel, renewable chemicals, and bioplastics.
