The NGSS call for science and engineering practices, but often we lack the formal training and expertise necessary to truly engage students in the engineering design process. In chemistry, this is particularly troubling - as chemical engineering is often something not immediately translatable to the classroom. The goals of this session are to give teachers the immediate knowledge and resources to implement the engineering design process within chemistry through aspects such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and fluidics. Sharing more than just the lesson plans, we'll also discuss how to seamlessly embed formative assessment, differentiated instruction, and other educational best practices.
