REActivities is an organic laboratory curriculum designed to infuse familiar organic lab exercises with aspects of both the guided-inquiry model and the studio-based approach. This curriculum aims to encourage student engagement and highlight the theoretical underpinnings behind laboratory techniques, while developing and honing transferable laboratory skills. Transferable skills often referred to as process/professional/soft skills include teamwork, communication, information processing, and critical thinking skills. This curriculum’s potential to help students develop transferable skills was assessed by using rubrics to analyze the laboratory manual to determine what skills students were being prompted to engage in, how the students were being assessed on the development of these skills, and what feedback students were being provided with on the development of these skills.
