While teaching chemistry at the Oklahoma School of Scienec and Mathematics, the author looked for summer research opportunities as part of professional development and continuing education, in the indutsry, in the national labs and at the top universiies during the last 26 years of his academic career.  This presentation will also provide a narrative of authors various efforts to advanced chemistry in the State of Oklahoma where education ranks 50th in the nation.
