The use of Fischer Tropsch (FT) technology to produce long chain hydrocarbons is well known in industry and achieving the desired selectivity from the FT reaction is crucial for the process to make economic sense.  Iron low temperature Fischer Tropsch (Fe-LTFT) is such a catalyst system that can be used in the production of waxy product.  From either a chemicals or fuels perspective, hydrocarbon selectivity in the FT process needs to be thoroughly understood in order to manipulate process conditions and allow for the optimisation of the required product yield to maximise the plant profitability.  After ~65 years of commercial operation, new insight is necessary to further optimize the Fe-LTFT system.  <br/> <br/>A careful investigation into changes of selectivities with catalyst age showed that there are subtle links between some FT products which could be used to further manipulate the FT process.  This presentation will focus specifically on the link between acid selectivity, CO<sub>2</sub> selectivity and double bond isomerization.
