Critical Safety Attributes and Critical Quality Attributes are comprised of specifications that can be verified throughout a supply chain. Setting specifications in the pharmaceutical supply chain is performed on a risk based approach. International distribution of cannabis products representing a myriad of finished forms, posed a new challenge in distribution to determine product stability and traceability from one party to another. Quality agreements demand that agreed product specifications be maintained in transactions and the following logisitics, and therefore represent a risk for adulteration by way of an uncontrolled process, if not characterized. Development of risk controls for Critical Safety Attributes and Critical Quality Attributes utilizing Failure Modes and Effects Analysis is reported.
