In this two-part presentation we will describe the recent development of two transformations in our research group: 1) the electrochemical 4-pyridylation of olefins and, 2) the arylation of carbonyls using convergent paired electrolysis to afford alcohol products. In both cases, undivided electrochemical cells are employed in high-yielding and operationally convenient set-ups. In part 1, the unique role of Ni(acac)<sub>2</sub> in differentiating reduction process of reaction partners is explored. In part 2, we demonstrate that electrochemical arylation can serve as a practical alternative to more common approaches toward the preparation of alcohols.
