Aldehydes can be extracted from mixtures using an aqueous extraction protocol involving the use of a miscible co-solvent. The functional group tolerance and scope is exceptional. Current efforts are directed at bisulfite batch dependence at near stoichiometric levels and at expanding the scope of the process to include imine purification in a non-aqueous environment. The cosolvent effect is also being examined in the context of other reaction manifolds for extraction.
