In this work, the authors present the development of a device for microextraction, based on stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE), using polymeric support with a magnetic piece inside and sorbent solids adhered capable to extract organic compounds in liquid samples. The developed device has been called "micro polymeric magnetized bar adsorptive extraction" (µ-PMBAE). To demonstrate the applicability of the developed devices, it was proposed to determine ibuprofen, as a representative molecule in urine samples, by HPLC-DAD. Different parameters of the sorption stage, including stirring time, solution pH, solution volume, and ionic strength were optimized. In the liquid desorption the sonication time, elution solvent, and volume were evaluated to obtain the greatest recovery of the analyte. As far as the authors know, this work is the first to develop SBSE devices with the proposed materials. The developed micro-devices have shown remarkable performance with advantages in relation to ease of preparation, economic cost, variety of sorbents, and, mainly dispensing with Teflon-coated magnetic bars as in other devices reported in the literature.
