Spanning a half centruy, personal and professional experiences directing R&D groups in pharmaceutical and crop protection companies will be discussed. Creation and management of high performance teams with a focus on innovation will be presented along with several examples of contributions to synthetic organic chemistry. HIghlights will feature work on Vitamin B12, biotin, and the AIDS drug Sustiva.
