Biofuel was synthesized via transesterification from campus waste oil and grease using a deep eutectic solvent (DES) and its suitability was determined as an alternative fuel blended with commercial diesel to power campus utility vehicles. The biodiesel synthesis requires no washing during production and offers multiple use of the DES in the repeated synthesis. Biofuel and its exhaust gas were characterized with GC-MS, FT-IR, <sup>1</sup>H NMR, viscometer, DSC and TGA-FTIR. Results indicate the biodiesel synthesized using DES is suitable for use in campus utility vehicles and provides local sustainability by using re-purposed, used DES in chemistry teaching labs.
