Dan and I first met in 1998 at the Inorganic Chemistry Gordon Conference, and we were among the very few PUI (Predominately Undergraduate Institution) faculty at the Conference. That meeting, along with our mutual research interests into the coordination chemistry of thioether ligands, initiated a lifelong friendship. Dan and I come from two very different places in life. However, those differences have sparked lots of interesting conversations, science, and experiences over these many years. My talk looks at our adventures, both in chemistry and elsewhere, and our good times together. The research portion focuses on my group’s work with platinum group metal complexes of thiacrown ligands. Dan, thanks for your valued friendship, so many memories, and congratulations on this well-deserved ACS Award!
