Carbon nanomaterials have striking mechanical, optical, and electronic properties largely defined by the topology of the material.  Prototypical examples are fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and graphene.  Uncharted topologies, for example mechanically interlocked structures, may provide access to new properties.  In this presentation, I will describe an efficient active template strategy that provides access to a broad family of interlocked carbon nanostructures.
