A Ni/Photoredox-catalyzed enantioselective reductive coupling of styrenyl oxides and aryl iodides is reported. This reaction allows access to enantioenriched 2,2-diarylethanols from racemic epoxides via a stereoconvergent mechanism. Multivariate regression analysis revealed important ligand features that affect enantioselectivity of the reaction, providing insights into the design of chiral catalysts for future transformations.
