Harvesting solar energy is one of the most promising approaches to solve current energy demands. Organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells show great promise to meet the urgent requirements for low-cost, clean, and renewable energy managements. Here we present change transfer of interfaces relevant to the development of photovoltaic cells. Utilizing time-resolved interface-specific electronic Sum Frequency Generation (TR-ESFG) spectroscopy, we examine interfacial carrier dynamics at GaAs/C60. Transient ESFG spectra show that two surface states are involved in population and recombination for both p-type and n-type GaAs alone. For the n-type GaAs, we observe no significant difference with and without C60. On the other hand, negative polarons are generated upon photoexcitation and interfacial charge transfer takes place only at p-type GaAs/C60 interfaces. These results suggest that this TR-ESFG is a good tool for investing ultrafast processes at interfaces and surfaces.
