A successful strategy to combat the threat posed by multi-drug-resistant (MDR) bacterial strains is to inhibit the efflux pumps in MDR pathogens while concomitantly stop the biofilm formation and maintain bacteria in the planktonic state, in which they are sensitive to antibiotics and biocides. Oroidin derivatives have been shown to be efflux pump inhibitors and BfMr inhibitors. We have developed imidazopyrimidine chemistry for the synthesis of reverse amides of Oroidin core to inhibit the biofilms, and the results will be presented.
