Drug manufacturing today is typically done by multiple global suppliers. Only the final step for drug synthesis may be done by the plant manufacturing API. This is a prime example of global sourcing.<br/>In view of the recent Coronavirus Pandemic, it has become imperative to improve current procedures. There is a need to make manufacturing more efficient, cost effective and sustainable. One way by which manufacturing can become sustainable and cost effective is to shift from solvent based chemistry to water-based chemistry. Another important way is to shift from batch to batch manufacturing to continuous flow manufacturing in which raw materials are typically sent through an uninterrupted, nonstop process until the final product is completed.<br/>Talk will elaborate need for global collaboration in bringing up the above two technologies to change drug manufacturing.
