Although porous poly (ionic liquids) (PPILs) have attracted great research interest owing to their various applications, the performance of asymmetric PPILs has been rarely developed in the catalysis field. To this end, a new asymmetric mesoporous poly (ionic liquid) benefiting from vinyl imidazolium salt chemistry, porous materials, and amino acids is designed and synthesized through a multi-step green protocol. Ultrafast preparation of L-phenylalanine functionalized poly (1-Aminopropyl-3-vinylimidazolium bromide) entrapped cobalt oxide nanoparticles using low-frequency ultrasonic treatment (100 W, 40 kHz) are reported. Based on our observations, the proposed asymmetric nanocatalyst possess great porous structure with a high specific surface area (S BET: 280 m2.g–1), thermal stability (around 500 °C for 45% weight loss), and excellent magnetic recoverability (up to eight runs).On the other hand, the formation of chiral spirooxindoles is an important challenge in organic synthesis. So, the one-pot multicomponent synthesis of new and known 3,3`-spirooxindole derivatives was primarily selected to screen the catalytic activity of proposed asymmetric nanocatalyst. A series of chiral 3,3′-spirooxindoles bearing tetrasubstituted stereocenter are obtained in excellent yields (up to 96%) and enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee). It is worth mentioning, need for green process and environmental protection have become a basic concern for humanity. Therefore, all sections of our work are in accordance with the principles of green chemistry.
