ABSTRACT 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzylamine derivatives of tyrosine and tryptophan self-assembled peptide nanostructures (BTTPNS) are proposed as spectral and theoretical evidences for Cu2+ ions and caffeine conjugates. DFT simulations were carried out for a system of caffeine and Cu2+ interacted with BTTPNS which also experimentally characterized by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorbance, scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). These results are used to predict the morphologies, size of the nanostructure and study its sensing potential. Electrochemical analysis show that BTTPNS are having the good sensing ability for Cu2+ and caffeine, through the binding occurred between NH2 and carbonyl groups of BTTPNS is proposed.
