Inspired by a desire to probe the nature and extent of 5f-/6d-orbital participation in the bonding of actinide elements, in recent years we have reported a range of uranium and thorium complexes that exhibit metal-ligand multiple bonding interactions, resulting in novel electronic structures, reactivities, and magnetism. This talk will update on our recent work, focussing on tetryl and pnictogen derivatives.
