It's natural to fear the risks of an invisible airborne virus and question whether the places we spend our time are safe. This often leads to current debates about which categories of venues are safe and which aren't. Are bars and restaurants driving the spread of SARS-CoV-2? Are schools? What about factories? Gyms? Transit? However, this is the wrong question. We have measured the air of 400+ indoor venues, can safely say that no two venues are alike, and conclude that ventilation (and risk) varies widely room-to-room even within a single facility. This presentation focuses on how simple indoor measurement can help pinpoint airborne infection risk, and why more precise approaches are needed to create safe indoor environments.
