Vignettes will be shared on developing transition-metal catalyzed reactions with an eye towards process chemistry. Specifically, this talk will discuss the development of robust and scalable reaction processes to be suitable transformations for large-scale manufacturing.<br/>Metal-catalyzed cross coupling reactions are ubiquitous in the syntheses of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Although Pd-catalyzed reactions are regularly used on scale, base metals are of high interest to enable numerous catalytic transformations, but the applications in process chemistry are still in the development stages. This talk will discuss Pd and Ni catalyzed cross coupling reactions from screening on small scale to processes designed to reject organic impurities, to remediate metals, and to reproducibly generate high quality material en route to APIs.
