Use of agricultural waste remained a practice for the long time for treating waste water coming from various sources. Present study deals with the removal of toxic chromium metal using nano-composites derived from seeds Syzygium cumini (Sc) and Heterophragma adenophylla (Ha). Surface characterization was done using FTIR and SEM analysis. Batch mode studies using solid phase extraction procedure was opted. Various physical parameters as; contact time, temperature, adsorbent dose and pH were optimized. Feasibility of extraction procedure was checked by applying Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin adsorption models. Adsorprion capacity of 136.6mg/g in case of Ha-NC and 56.4mg/g for Sc-NC showed active potential of synthesized nano-composites for water treatment. Kinetics study revealed that solid phase extraction followed pseudo second order reaction kinetics. Furthermore, antimicrobial potential was checked against two bacterial strains and zone of inhibition revealed that nano-composites showed good antimicrobial potential.
