Single-ion conductor polymer electrolytes (SIC) in lithium-ion batteries applications have been studied extensively to maximize the performance as well as maintain safety operation. In SIC, a polymer matrix such as poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) is mixed with various types of polymer electrolytes in order to improve ion dissociation from the counterions. Because the ion transport is coupled with segmental motion of polymer matrix, the ionic conductivity of this type is well below of those measured in liquid electrolytes and salt-doped polymers due to the high <i>T</i><sub>g</sub> of most polymer electrolytes. Controlling chemical structures of polymer electrolytes and its miscibility with polymer matrices and significantly impact the performance of the electrolytes. With this study, we will report ionic conductivity as well as miscibility study of a polymer blend between a precision polymer electrolyte and PEO with varying blend compositions and highlight our progress towards optimizing the performance and design of polymer electrolytes.
