3,4,5-Triarylpyrroline-2-carboxylates are purposed as intermediates in the synthesis of several biologically active natural products. Their structural similarities to medicinally relevant molecules suggests these compounds possess chemotherapeutic potential. We have developed a facile method for the construction of these compounds via the reaction of triaryl-substituted chalcones and glycine methyl ester hydrochloride in ethanol. Revealed through various characterization protocols of the products were different regioisomers influenced by electronic variations of the aryl moieties. Investigations into the absolute configurations of these molecules are pending successful recrystallization experiments.
