A series of symmetric and asymmetric secondary alcohols carrying glycerol skeleton were synthesized from epichlorohydrin and corresponding alcohols. These small molecules can be used for CO<sub>2</sub> absorption and has potential to serve as reaction solvent. They are also able to be easily transferred into ketones and tri-ethers. Furthermore, as functional groups, they allow to be incorporated into ionic liquids and polymers as well. Synthetic routes via reaction of alcohol and other glycerol moiety and its characterization will be discussed. Furthermore, it’s application in CO<sub>2</sub> absorption will be discussed in the presentation.
