Unfortunately, many scientific disciplines have suffered the harmful effects of politicization and misunderstanding. To further the stain of a politicized field, mainstream media has overemphasized the necessity for cut-and-dried information when in fact, scientists make decisions based on margins of error. Therefore, we face the issue of media emphasizing “scientific fact” when science is based not on truth but on collective agreement that, “this is the best we can do right now.” To mitigate science skepticism and the politicization of scientific fields, I have created a YouTube channel to change the way information is disseminated. I therefore “humanize academia with a focus on STEM” by introducing the scientist as a person, with a story, and then bridge their research into that narrative, emphasizing how their research impacts society. This is a new style of science communication.
