 Palifermin, a truncated recombinant human keratinocyte growth factor (rHuKGF), were approved by the US FDA for the treatment of oral mucositis. Currently, it is available in an injection form. Here, we report an alternative strategy for enhancing oral therapeutic rHuKGF delivery by forming a complex with G5 PAMAM dendrimer. We investigated the ability of G5 PAMAM dendrimer to protect rHuKGF from proteolysis by formulating PAMAM dendrimeric rHuKGF nanocomplex. In addition, we examined the relative effect of PAMAM dendrimeric rHuKGF nanocomplex on the FHs 74 Int cell proliferation by MTT assay. The results of this study demonstrated that PAMAM dendrimer is a potential nanocarrier for rHuKGF and protect rHuKGF from proteolysis. The complex formed with PAMAM dendrimer and rHuKGF increased the FHs 74 Int cells proliferation.
