With the unremitting efforts of researchers, various Janus amphiphilic nanosheets have been developed continuously. Compared with the inorganic type, the research of Janus amphiphilic polymer nanosheets is still in its infancy, and the low-cost and controllable synthesis method is facing great challenges. Template methods are the most widely used synthesis strategies. However, conventional templates, including silica and calcium carbonate particles, are difficult to remove by dissolving and to circulative use. Herein, a biological template, sucrose, is proposed to synthesis Janus amphiphilic polymer nanosheets through processes such as adsorption, self-assembly, polymerization, water washing, and ultrasound. The size of the nanosheets ranges from a few hundred nanometers to several microns with distinct lamellae and different shapes. The internal template can be easily removed by washing with water, and sucrose can be recovered by subsequent recrystallization for recycling. We expect this research can provide insights and guidance for low-cost and steerable nanosheet synthesis strategies.
