*The Prismatic-core Advanced High Temperature Reactor (PAHTR) is a very high temperature reactor type which is one of promising reactor type technologies classified as Generation IV by the International Forum. The new technology designs are identified as being proliferation resistant, safe, economical, efficient, and have a long fuel cycle. In this paper, a continuous-energy Monte Carlo method which is capable of capturing all of the necessary reactor physics parameters using high fidelity two-dimensional model in Serpent Monte Carlo code, is applied for the PAHTR core loaded with TRi-structural ISOtropic (TRISO) fuel particles by taking into account the double heterogeneity effect. These analyses are performed for the PAHTR where TRISO fuel particles are embedded in silicon carbide matrix by applying a new innovative idea of adding Integral Fuel Burnable Absorber (IFBA) as an additional coating layer with a designated thickness, to compress the excess reactivity at Beginning of Cycle (BOC) while extending the burnup cycle, and minimize the effect of burnable absorber on homogenized group constant and reactor radial flux. The IFBA additional coating layer is placed in the outer surface of the fuel kernel and covered by the buffer layers that compose the TRISO fuel particle. The fuel enrichment is set as 19.75 w/o, and the TRISO particles are modeled in a hexagonal matrix, with a packing factor of 35 %.*
