Gasification is the thermochemical conversion of organic (waste) feedstock in a high-temperature environment, through which feedstock can be converted not only to syngas for energy generation but also to chemicals like methanol, methane, ethylene etc.<br/>In Fluidized-bed gasification suspended feedstock particles in an oxygen-rich gas so the resulting bed within the gasifier acts as a fluid. In this gasifiers normally operate at moderately high temperature around 1200K to achieve an acceptable carbon conversion rate (e.g., 90-95%) and to decompose most of the tar, oils, phenols, and other liquid byproducts. The operating temperatures are usually less than the ash fusion temperature so as to avoid clinker formation and the possibility of de-fluidization of the bed. This, in turn means that fluidized-bed gasifiers are best suited to relatively reactive coals, low rank coals, and other fuels such as biomass of agricultural waste.<br/>North east coal has relatively high sulphar content which is not a desirable properties for direct burning of coal. Various agricultural waste like rice straw, sesame stalk is widely aviable which has no commercical value.<br/>In this way, Gasification can be suitable solution for both the enviormental and waste management issue.<br/>Most methanol is produced from syngas. Although the majority of methanol synthesis is based on natural gas as feedstock, coal-derived syngas is also used; Coal/solid feedstocks are used to make 9% of the worldwide output of methanol.
