One goal in modern synthetic chemistry is to efficiently construct specialty chemicals from readily available feedstock chemicals with operationally simplistic and minimal waste protocols. New methods that utilize photoredox catalysis for the activation of feedstock chemicals and allow for the installation of synthetically versatile functionalities into these scaffolds with minimal waste will be described.
