Self-assembly of short peptides is becoming an attractive strategy for the design of functional nanomaterials.This work highlights contrasting effects of the electric field in the formation of peptide-based supramolecular materials. Our approaches include atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The results illustrate how the applied electric field could modulate the interaction between the hydrophobic and hydrophilic components of amphiphilic peptide motifs, facilitating the construction of dynamic soft materials.
