Novel fungicides with high levels of activity were discovered through combination of structural elements of fungicides believed to act on the same biochemical target site, scaffold-hopping by modification of heterocyclic core ring size, pharmacophore inversion of heterocyclic ring elements, and bioisosteric replacements of linking groups on the molecules.
