Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is an enduring, progressive, and often irreversible condition characteristics pain, tingling, numbness and sensitivity to cold in the feet and hands. CIPN becomes a major dose-limiting toxicity of many chemotherapeutics and not only can reduce the quality of life of the patients, but also compromise a patients’ ability to tolerate chemotherapy. At present, intensive efforts have been made to develop effective drugs for CIPN, however, there is still no established method to prevent and treat chemotherapy-induced nerve damage.<br/>To find effective compounds for CIPN, diverse flavonoids were screened since many natural and synthetic flavonoids exhibited strong antiinflammatory activities from our previous research. Base on the effects of flavonoids on CIPN in rats, we found that several flavonols exhibited promising results.<br/>In this presentation, we report design, synthesis and bioactivity of diverse flavonol analogs to find potential leads for treating CIPN.
