Domino reaction protocol could be considered as an efficient technique to construct two or more bonds in a single pot operation.1 These methods have been successfully utilized by synthetic chemist for the construction of functionalized heterocyclic compounds through a catalytic or stoichiometric path way.2 In our research group, we have developed an organo-catalytic approach, for a domino ring opening cyclization reaction strategy for the synthesis of highly functionalized diastereo- as well as enantio-pure tetrahydrofuran derivatives having an all carbon quaternary center. For this purpose, substituted epoxides have been taken as substrate and transformed into the corresponding products after reacting with α,β-unsaturated nitriles as an electrophile in a catalytic way.3 In further continuation of this protocol, substituted oxazolidinone derivatives have been obtained from isocyanate as an electrophile via the same catalytic way. Newly designed and synthesizd ketamine derivatives have been used as a HBD catalyst and tetrabutyl ammonium iodide (TBAI) as a cocatalyst. This stereoselective process involves ambient reaction condition, low catalyst loading with complete atom economic features. The tetrahydrofuran and oxazolidinone derivatives are biological active with antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.4
