In this talk I will present a personal perspective on the work of my lab to bring the tools of computational chemistry to bear on SARS-CoV-2.  I will discuss the science, as well as parallel efforts on the open science aspects and community building. Throughout, I will interweave challenges and opportunities that I faced as a woman in this field and present a largely positive viewpoint for looking forward.
