We describe the preparation of a deuterium-incorporated intermediate and our endgame process development for a stable precursor to GTP1. This convergent second-generation synthesis addresses the limitations of the initial preparation and affords the desired precursor with &gt;99 A% purity and an overall yield of 49%.
