The rapidly growing demand for energy and limited supply from conventional energy sources has emerged the urgent need to explore new approaches for energy generation, storage, and management. Flexible and wearable electronics have recently appeared as a potential solution for next-generation electronics. However, traditional fabrication methods are incompetent to meet the scalability and shape versatility requirements of advanced electronics. Conventional batteries produce tremendous waste that is pernicious to the environment.<br/>My research work focuses on printing techniques for rapid fabrication of scalable, low-cost, high performance, flexible, and biodegradable energy storage devices. I have successfully developed cellulose paper and textile-based supercapacitors by rheology control of electronic material's inks and using the computer-aided design-based printing technique. The developed devices exhibited excellent electrochemical properties, including high capacitance, high power density, high energy density, outstanding lifetime, and excellent repeatability. These devices worked well in practical applications, and their flexible features (such as foldability, rollability, and bendability) are well-suited for flexible and wearable electronics. The developed protocols and devices produce zero electronic waste, which paves a path for green electronics manufacturing for a sustainable environment. The outcome of my research work provides a flexible production protocol to manufacture printed supercapacitors and beneficial to improve the manufacturing of other electronics.
