Since 2017, the ACS UFRJ Student Chapter has been searching for ways to disseminate information about Green Chemistry to make society aware of environmental problems and possible solutions. The group organized its first symposium entitled "The multiple approaches on sustainable Chemistry." It was a 4-day virtual event in which three spheres were contemplated: school, university, and company. The expression "multiple approaches'' conveyed not only the diversity of theoretical, practical, and technical knowledge about sustainable Chemistry, but also the different perspectives for action, research, and teaching in the school, university, and business contexts. Considering the importance of sustainable living, the Chapter observed the necessity to disseminate Green Chemistry since primary education. In this context, the first day of the symposium focused on school, when a lecture entitled "The approach to Green Chemistry in high school and technical school activities" and the workshop "The insertion of Green Chemistry in a Science-Technology-Society approach through controlled controversy practice" were presented. The second day of the event contemplated the university environment. The lecture "Teaching Green Chemistry in universities'' dealt with the main characteristics, potentialities and limitations of teaching Green Chemistry in undergraduate courses. This activity was followed by the round-table discussion "The application of Green Chemistry in academic research lines on Catalysis'' which presented general considerations and academic perspectives of undergraduate and post-graduate studies. The third day was focused on the business context when the speakers presented possible tools of implementing sustainable Chemistry in companies through the lecture "Petro Greens: the energy transition of the oil majors" and the round-table meeting "Transition to the green economy: benefits, challenges and risks''. The last day of the symposium, which counted 63 registered participants and 14 speakers, was reserved for the closing session. The ACS UFRJ Student Chapter believes that this event was an opportunity of training students and professionals (both profiles that are increasingly aware of environmental problems and cleaner procedures). A pollution prevention posture can be acquired, which will generate safe chemical procedures and in line with environmental preservation.
