<br/>The lack of diversity in chemistry is a real issue that we must face. More and more students become disheartened while pursuing chemistry because of their gender, ethnicity, and/or race. With a desire to address this concern, I wrote a chemistry children’s book, <i>Adventures of Chemist Clara Book Series</i>. This children’s book features a female person of color lead to allow marginalized children to see themselves in STEAM. This book has received great feedback and sparked children’s interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). Chemistry makes some of the most important discoveries in the world and increasing diversity, inclusion, equity, and respect are the best way for chemistry to progress. Adventures of Chemist Clara Book Series has demonstrated that children, especially children from disadvantaged backgrounds, are capable of not only seeing what is possible for themselves in STEAM but also learning what they are capable of accomplishing, as well.
